You need some 235/40/18's. they make the little 8" rims look a hell of a lot more purposeful!

ok with the 235/40's you run, is the difference basically a bit more rubber on the road? I take it your wheels are 18x8?

Yeah, much larger contact patch. Plus the 235 R888's are actually 242m wide compared to the 225 yokohamas which are which were around 220mm wide.. There also a little taller, around 5mm per side wall

Yeah they are 18x8

Yeah could be cool to get the car on a cover of a mag, most have my cars have had features but never a cover..

Anyways a quick update on things!

I have decided to go BT on the GTI, the problem that I had was wanting something a little different, but at the moment with there being hardly any options out there I was forced to go down the custom route!

Im pretty close now to deciding the final spec on the Manifold, turbo and wastegate set-up.. All of the parts have been specced specifically to make the engine perform exactly how I want it to..

I want a smooth delivery, no sudden burst of torque and a load of top end power! The numbers will be around 350ft/lbs tq and 450 crank HP at around 7500RPM. So less torque than the K04 turbo, thats intentional, its the torque I dont want, the power is going to make this car fast, top end its going to be stunning im sure!!

The turbo spec will give me the option of raising power to around the 550 crank HP mark with low compression pistons and water/meth injection with more boost top end, really this is going to be a stage 2 for the car, ill see how the DSG 'box is coping with the 'stage 1' set-up and go from there. All indications have been pretty positive from around the world, there are plenty of BT DSG cars running around with not one problem to date!

All of the parts will be pretty much custom, and a lot of them motorsport specific, WRC spec turbo parts, billet compressor wheels, stainless steel compressor housings, Ti and Inconel exhaust parts, ceramic cating etc etc.. Its going to be pretty nice!

Anyways, I should have a date set in the next week as to when the car will be going in, cant wait!

On top of all of that I still have a load of weight to come out of the car from the following being changed..

RECARO POLE POSITION FRONT SEATS
REMOVE FOG LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHT WASHERS
POSSIBLY CARBON FRONT END
AC REMOVED
VWR BRAKES
MISC SOUND DEADENING REMOVAL

Depending on the carbon parts this should be another 125+KG off the base weight.. I also have some more extreme plans for the weight saving to compliment the 'Stage 2' engine work.. Really not decided on this but the aim would be to get the weight of the car down to 1100KG

Just to put all of that into some numbers and give you an idea of just how fast this is going to be!..

My car at Santa Pod was running 1300KG and 360BHP so roughly 278HP/Ton

With the turbo kit and the extra weight saving I should be looking at a power to weight ratio of around 383HP/Ton with 'Stage 2' seeing just over 500HP/Ton

I know your probably thinking, 450HP.. FWD.. Its never going to work! Never mind 550BHP!! Well, it will, im not just going power hungry on this car, there is a hell of a lot of attention being paid to the chassis, and all the time things are improving on that side, plus with the way the car will be mapped, and the power delivery being so smooth and progressive it will be more than manageable!

Im waiting also on some prototype front wings and rear arch work so that I can fit the 265/30/18 R888 tyres with the 9" wide wheels, this will make a huge difference in controlling the power..

This car is really going to be something special

Stage 1 is going to be nuts with the BT but stage 2 sounds incredible. I like that you have made sure that the chassis is capable of handling the power. There are many cars out there running huge turbos with impressive power figures but the reality is that most of these cant handle the power. When it is all done yours will be able to eat alive most things on the road and it will be just as impressive on the track. Keep up the good work Jonny  :happy2:

I know this maybe a bit cheeky but a ride out in her at a meet would be brilliant. I would really like to see and feel how this thing goes  :happy2:
