Apologies on the tyre warming up quote.. What I meeant was they don't have a warm up area as such as it's a tight turn into the start area and you're on the start line pretty much.. I would imagine you can do a burnout on the actual strip and reverse back like John says. But there isn't the nice burn out area with the water puddle like there is at Pod..
Yeah, ok well thats alright then..
Update..Just thought I would neaten up the cold air feed that I had on my car.. I did it in a bit of a rush before the 1st Feb Santa Pod event just to make sure it was on there but im not just getting round to sorting things out to how I want them to be. Very OEM looking, nice and neat etc..
From this..
To this..
Took a bit of time to do it but its well worth it I think.. Looks a little neater and the venturi should work as its supposed to now with the duct on the outside edge of the passenger side fog grill.
I have also got some new shorter springs being fitted to the car tomorrow at VWR.. They are custom made springs from KW.. 140mm long and rated at 130NM which is the same spring rate but 40mm shorter than im running now, this will enable me to have the car running at the ride height that im after!
Decided on new wheels..
Oz Alleggerita - 18x8 ET48 5X112.. A couple of reasons for this..
The Compomotive wheels weight 11kg each!! I know there strong but jeez! The OZ are going to be saving me around 6kg over the weight of the Team Dynamics wheels that are currently on the car where as I would have gained 4kg fitting the Compomotives, certainly not what im after.. Remember that is all rotational mass so its worth between 4 and 5 times static weight loss!!
This does mean however that I wont be able to run the 255/35 tyre that I was planning. After giving it some though a lighter wheel with a smaller tyre I think is going to give me more of an advantage than a larger wheel/tyre combo with more mechanical grip..
To make up for that grip issue the tyres that will be fitted to the OZ wheels are going to be something a bit special!!
The new brakes will be fitted to the car soon (VW Racing brakes by Project Mu), hopefully next week! Looking forward to this, nothing wrong with the brake set up currently on the car, its very good actually.. Just im planning on keeping the car for quite a while now and I want to have the best of everything on it! They are pretty pricey though, but well worth it I think!!
Im having the car fully detailed on Sunday too (weather permitting) so im really looking forward to seeing the results of that! Should be nice and shiny for GTI International!
Im also still working on having a Titanium exhaust made for the car, this should save between 12-15kg off the weight and will be a lovely one off piece! Dont think anyone has a Ti system on a GTI at the moment anyways..
Thats about it for now!
