OEM amp and sub help

Hi guys i have tried googling but no successful answers.

I have the standard OEM amp under the passengers seat, and was wondering if there is a way of connecting a small sub to this. i dnt want anything major as i have the 10 speaker setup, just wanted a little more bass.

bump, i know u can get a harness to come of the rear speakers but would it be better coming straight off my OEM amp?

you would still need a separate amp for the sub.

The absolute best way to hook up the sub is to run an audison bit ten as the line output converter from the oem headunit and use the sub rca output to the separate amp for the sub.

With your set up though I'd just suggest tapping off the rear speakers (whether thats at the amp or at the speakers it makes no difference) and putting this tapped wire either into a line output converter or into an amp that accepts high level inputs. Then from the amp to the new sub.

Then to get the best from the sub you will need to run your front / rear fade at its central position otherwise the sub is only going to be getting a reduced input feed. I'd also run a sub level controller from the amp up to the front of the car so you can adjust sub level independently.

using a line output converter does not take away the need for an amp, it simply converts the high-level signal from the head unit into a low-level signal better suited to an amp.

You can either get a little active sub with an amp built into it. i think alpine do one that goes under the seat but tbh it wont add much to the golf system.

Or you can get a regular sub and hook it to an independent amp

both ways require giving the amp its own feed though.. whether thats via a DSP or LOC (digital signal processor or line output converter)
