Hi All
After the Audio install in the car I was lacking steering wheel controls (My Pirelli never had the multi function wheel). Luis who installed the Audio said to leave it with him and he sourced a MK6 R wheel from Eddie (Hi Eddie we haven’t spoke yet mate but thanks for providing Luis with the wheel, airbag and steering control module, much appreciated mate).
Luis then arranged the wheel to go to Royal Steering Wheels for a re-trim in perforated leather and alcantara with yellow stitching to match the Pirelli theme (I wanted the alcantara on the whole wheel but not so practical as it apparently wears easily, so opted for perforated leather where I hold the wheel most).
Luis then met my son at my place in the UK (I am in Hong Kong at the moment) and fitted and coded the wheel etc. to work with my Alpine INE-W928R head unit and Alpine KIT-8VWD fitting kit with the following results:
a) Right side “Up” arrow button = Not working
b) Right side “Down” arrow button = Not working
c) Right side “Right” arrow button = Working
d) Right side “Left” arrow button = Working
e) Right side “OK” button = Working
f) Right side “Return” = Working
g) Left side “Up” volume button = Working
h) Left side “Down” volume button = Working
i) Left side “Right” arrow button = Working
j) Left side “Left” arrow button = Working
k) Left side “Phone” button = (Pending checking after Blue tooth phone connection)
l) Left side “Voice” button = Working as a mute button
So possibly 9 or 10 out of the 12 buttons working and also since I had the version G cruise control that is working fine too (If anyone has any ideas how to get the right side up and down buttons for the High-Line MFD to work I would be happy to give it a try as I understand the wheel and wiper stalk controls can be coded as a slave and a master so maybe I can get the up and down on the wheel instead of the wiper stalk).
I leave some pictures of the wheel and the GTI badge that I ordered from Bold Sport that I have in Hong Kong and will fit when next back in the UK to finish the wheel off.
Thanks again Eddie and Luis
Cheers Paul
