Thanks to Rob at W8 Performance for supplying the Superpro rear bushes and f/r anti-roll bars, great service once again.
The rear Superpro rear bushes were fitted a couple of weeks ago (now thoroughly bedded in) whilst the solid 24mm anti roll bars (front and rear) were fitted today courtesy of the helpful chaps at Streetwise Automotive.
My stage2+ ed30 with 41k on the clock and standard dampers already had WALK and superpro front bushes so observations are only based on the recent changes.
Settings
The bars are set rear (hard), front (soft) as I wanted more neutral/oversteer characteristics.
Initial impressions
With all the previous Superpro bits fitted I didn’t experience any increase in noise, vibration or harmonics but I was a little worried there might be a compromise with the stiffer bars. Fortunately this has not proved to be the case.
Having scratched around on a few of my favourite roads with sweeping bends I was immediately impressed by the turn in characteristics. The car responds to steering inputs in a more direct way, its far more point and shoot oriented compared to previously where I felt the need to pre-empt a degree of body roll and tyre squirm.
The rear end feels more compliant in terms of following the line set, offering a more involving drive without risk of dramas.
Previously ARB upgrades to my mk4 turbo created the sensation of choppiness in terms of left to right weight transition particularly over bumpier roads but not so here. The car behaves in a very OEM way albeit with a positive increase to lateral stiffness.
As I don’t yet need or want a massively stiffer/shorter spring/damper combination the upgrade to Superpro bushes and roll bars offers an ideal upgrade path in its own right which for fast road purposes suits my brief perfectly.
