I've managed to answer this myself.
Yes an inspection service is a major service. Major services are supposed to be conducted every 2 years. Every other year its an ordinary service.
Major service under the fixed service plan is supposed to include the replacement of:
* Spark plugs
* air filter
* fuel filter
* dust and pollen filter
obviously they check other features of the car but should they require replacement the cost of these parts would fall outside of the plan but apparently would be fitted free of charge.
I wont get an oil change as i had this at the ordinary service last year (plus i dont drive the effer enough to warrant a change every year, so the top up i did the other week will be just fine).
Hope this helps anyone else who finds themselves unsure about the service plan, as i was this morning.
Next year the task will be to find a good, reputable independent in the west london area as i dont fancy bending over and taking one from the stealers
