« on: June 17, 2013, 12:35:04 pm »
As title says. Im looking to to a decat into standard exhaust then the remap to suit the decat and i was told i could be looking at about 260 bhp but would this ruin my clutch what the limit i could go to as not looking to uprate the clutch im not looking for big power just sound v price as a decat and map will cost about £400 and just a cat back is £450 ish

Loads of threads on this as I was wondering the same. Not a definitive answer as it depends on your mileage and how the clutch has previously been used.

I just had a stage 1 map with cat back exhaust 2 weeks ago, 70k mileage and theres not been any slipping yet but every car is different. A smooth linear delivery without torque spikes is what you want. I went with r tech :happy2:

Eventually a remap will kill your stock clutch. So budget for a DMF & clutch. As mentioned depends on milage of car and what sort or power it's making

On standard gti at stage 2 wouldn't worry too much but it has to be something you save for because more torque with kill a clutch quicker.

Like already been said it does depend on your clutches life so far and how much stress you put it under after the map.

It's mainly the ed30 guys that moan due to the ko4 going to over 300bhp after a stage 2 map  :pomppomp:

Would i be better off just going for a cat back and stage one then that would be the 240 mark then my car has done just below 67k like i say not looking for silly power just a nice sound and a little power to back it up i dont hammer mine around anyway so i dont give her a hard life just a little heavy foot every now and again

A stage 1 map was the best thing I ever did to my car. IMO a cat back exhaust is pointless as all it adds is a little noise, each to their own I suppose.

If I was you, get a stage 1 remap from a well regarded tuner and see how you feel from there, I think you will be so involved with the extra power and drivability you won't miss a exhaust or down pipe....well for a few months then you will be looking for more power

Another option i was thinking was stage 1 and the suitcase delete just for the sound

You might tire of this quickly if it drones at 60-70mph...

Is a stage 1 map that good on these cars so many people keep saying the extra 40bhp is unreal
