Brake pads gone?!
« on: June 17, 2013, 04:07:15 pm »
Hi guys so recently i had noticed my car not stopping as quickly as usual.. So i figured it must be the brake pads that need changing. I took it to a mechanic who upon inspection told me i had loads left and no need to change them.. Even though I'm getting warning lights telling me they need changing.. To add to this i hadn't cleaned my car for two weeks and had everything washed and now it seems to be stopping fine? Could it be Faulty sensor and dust build up causing it to not stop as quickly? Any help much appreciated!

could be a faulty sensor, but that wouldn't explain why it wasn't stopping well before but is now. have you had your brake fluid changed recently? if not it might be something worth considering. the brake pad wear sensors cost peanuts anyway (and iirc there is only one of them for one side of the front axle)

Brake fluid was changed around 4 months ago so its definitely not that.. Strange il see how it goes for the next week or so and if it happens again il go get em changed!

Perhaps the brake pad sensor cable wireing is broken somewhere leading to an open circuit...
