Edition 30 induction options
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:39:10 pm »
Am looking to upgrade the air intake/filter on my ED30.

Want to upgrade the car subtly and keep it looking as OEM as possible, so im thinking of going for a 'dry' panel filter (after reading threads about oil and MAF's etc).

Is it worth it? Or has anyone done a good 'stealth' upgrade for example the airbox set-up out of an R32 or something?

Would a panel filter have any effect on sound?

If you want subtle then IMO leave it as it is.  no gains to be had in a panel filter, just a waste of £40.    Also dont bother with the carbonio scoop thing as thats the biggest waste of money you'll ever make.

How subtle do you require!?

One of the best for Aesthetically keeping OME is the Volant:

Although you may require a slight adaptation for K04, it's from the US /  I might be selling one (£180) soon due to work commitment’s :(

I really like that set-up!

Can you still get the engine cover on?

Also, will a panel filter have any effect on sound?

Nope.  Although you can cut a bit off to get the OEM one on, or aftermarket, as for your other question (which I feel in doubt of now)... best answer: f*ck ALL. :happy2:

Anyone tried this one?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AmD-Tuning-AS-2-0-TFSi-Induction-kit-CAI-/281070635628?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item41711d8a6c

I'd steer clear of the AMD intake. There was an issue with their initial batch of intakes that was causing running issues  :scared:  If your spending that sought of money just buy the Revo for a few quid extra.

Alex at AKS seems to like the Revo intake, but the difference that provides may only be apparant for Stage 2 or Stage 2+ boost levels?

I've also heard good things about the Evoms intake, I have the ITG maxogen myself and think it's brilliant, 305bhp with Revo Stage 1 :happy2:
