Best springs for ED30 subtle drop
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:43:59 pm »
Am looking to lower my Golf by around 15-20mm with some springs.

The Eibach Proline kit looks good but some people seem to say it doesn't actually lower the car.

Sportlines look just a tad too low for me.

What are recommended springs that offer a sensible drop (arch gap around 10-15mm)?

Have googled images of the sportlines and some look perfect, some a tad too low. any reason why some are slightly lower than others? Maybe they have settled more? If thats the case when settled they look a little too low for me...

I have the Sportline springs on mine. I think sometimes the offset of the wheels can make it appear lower, my BBS wheels which have a lower offset than OEM wheels make mine look lower because they sit out of the arch more.

So is it true that the prolines hardly lower the car then?

And what is the quality like on the AP springs? Is it a half decent ride still?

Mine on AP springs 20mm drop same as Beddie. Mine are with AP dampers also though not the standard ones. Ride is definitely firmer than standard but is still liveable and clearance is still good. Slightly bouncy ride if I am being very critical but not so bad.

Couldnt fault the ride in mine on the APs one bit, and a noticeable increase in handling ability  :happy2:

Must say that looks lovely! Sportline is just a *tad* too low for me though.

AP springs look perfect.

Where's the best place to get them from?

I've had eibach pro kit, 30mm drop and it doesn't even look like its dropped much, certainly not 30mm anyway. Not happy with it really

SPIKIE's sits lower than mine does, looks well that does  :happy2:

Ive had Eibach Sportlines and H&R on my two Leon's

I would recommend either of them, Pro kit doesn't lower the Leon much either

The VWR one's are made by Eibach i think, a friend of mine has just purchased them for his MK2 LCR
