I'll be paying £57 for mine at the stealers next week. Not sure if that's good/bad but seems about right I guess...

I got quoted £70 from the stealers, so around that is all good.  (Did it with me mate and VCDS, saved £50 including a few beers and a can of 501.14+)

I would however, question them, and ask whether they do the ABS cycle/purge with that, it's part of the fluid change and in the book for them to do it, it requies them to hook up to VAS.

TBH I bet most don't but should and it pisses me off a bit, as I hate it when dealers cut corners and charge a premium.

If they prmoise it, wait and watch them, you'll see a YTS kid moaning in the drivers seat whilst they hold back the brake pedal during the ABS purge! lol.

Customer is always right... give it some decent stops from speed 1**... if the pedal continues to be firm and it stops well this side of pads and discs... then I wouldn't worry, if it's spongy; moan. :happy2:

Might be dust shields, or a bit of grit... if you have the time / inclination / space, get the wheels and pads off and check it all out, could save you some pennies... however if your near or around 2 years of a fluid change get the stealers to do it. :happy2:

to be honest the guy I got the golf from not been the most honest, got a folder full of work but there nothing in there for the brake fluid so I think its better to just have it changed for peace of mind , plus clutch peddle seems alittle soft but I had a mechanic check that is not the dmf so been told clutch shares the same res has brake fluid

Full change with ABS cycle and correct fluid?
If so, bargain. Not worth doing it yourself for that.

Edwin May in Portadown. However I have a very strong suspicion they didn't cycle the abs.
