Help! Fluid leak and EML has come on :(
« on: June 19, 2013, 12:00:25 am »
Just gone for a drive and the car is poorly :(

EML came on, pulled over and engine seemed to be running fine so drove home! Looked on the drive and theres spots of fluid where I drove in! Doesn't smell of petrol and doesn't look like oil :/

Checked under the car and theres a small leak from the middle of the car, about b pillar area.

Any ideas what it is before I take it to the garage!

Thanks in advance!

i'd imagine if it was leaking coolant at a rate where it was noticable immediately after driving into one's driveway that the light would come on sharpish. also i don't see why coolant would be as far back as the B pillar

i suspect they're unrelated? in regards to the EML best thing to do is to look at the VCDS register and get someone nearby to scan it for you.

in regards to the fluid i'd put some newspaper (or similar) down underneath to catch the liquid to see if you can get any more clues (colour smell etc)

Cheers for the replys guys.

It does seem too convenient for the light to come on and fluid to start leaking! Its level with the B pillar but in the middle of the car.

It seemed like water when I touched it yesterday, no fuel or oil smell.

I have got greenflag coming tonight to take a look (and move it to a garage tomorrow) so hopefully they will see what is wrong!

It's a bit far back, but condensed water from the A/C?

Yes turned out it was condensed water from the air con and a problem with a sensor apparently! Going in to get sorted next week!

Cheers for the replies guys

Mine drips there too.

Strange that I noticed it on the same day as the EML light came on!
