Statller - excellent service
« on: June 21, 2013, 06:26:03 pm »
Following a break down and having recently been to Statllers I called Steve for his advice, he suspected he knew what the problem would be so with his help I arranged for the car to be collected the following morning (flatbed), car arrived at Statllers a hour or so later and then was fixed by the end of the day !

Top service and even though they are around 60miles from me I will definitely be going back there again.

What was the problem??

The poor guys had a breakdown - I don't think we should ask him what's up, could be problems with his wife or job, sexuality or other private matters !!

Didn't realise Stallers did counselling

I'm close to a breakdown - but then aren't most people nowadays.

ESP:Fault on the dash, a nice selection of lights, no power (accelerator not working), misfire and some throttle type error codes.

Turned out to be the throttle body which needed replacing.

Why do we buy these Mk5's?  Rust - arches / sills / boot. Corrosion - wheels / badges / centres. Electrical - cruise / rear wiper. Engine - PCV / TB / DV / CF ... and cr@p brakes, hmm.

I'd never heard of it but yes seems like it may be turning into one of those 'common items', not a cheap one mind. The annoying thing it being stuck with a car which wont drive - I can handle limp mode to a fashion but no power and spluttering home at 15mph is not fun.

What is it that actually goes wrong with the throttle bodies? Control unit? Physically break or seize up?
Golf R gone.

Think there are a couple in there?

My Codes:
VCDS showing fault codes in ABS and Engine modules:

ABS:

            013 - Check DTC Memory

[which means check the engine codes]

Engine:
4 Faults Found:

000546 - Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle (G188)
               P0222 - 002 - Signal Too Low - MIL ON
000291 - Throttle Position Sensor (G69)
               P0123 - 001 - Signal too High - MIL ON
008482 - Accelerator Position Sensor (G79)
               P2122 - 002 - Signal too Low - Intermittent - MIL ON
001688 - Sensor Reference Voltage C
               P0698 - 002 - Too Low - Intermittent - MIL ON

I'm back on the road now  :happy2:
