Turbo whistle on MK5 GT TDI
« on: June 23, 2013, 12:40:12 am »
Hi I have a mk5 GT TDI 140 BHP on a BKD engine, it has not almost covered 150k. When I purchased this car at 139k I could hear the turbo whistle more however now I have noticed I can barely hear the turbo whistle? Im not sure if this is a good this or bad? also when I am pressing on the car, the power is still there as before any suggestions much appreciated thanks

With that kind of mileage I would get the turbo checked out asap

Normally the next stage is the noise increases and it sounds like the old bill is following you all the time.

Also in its development the turbo cause the vehicle to trip into lip home mode and requires the ignition to be cycled to correct it, yet the vehicle still feels pokey when demanding power!

On mine the cure was an exchange turbo and new oil feed pipe and gaskets etc  - if your thinking about doing the job it's tricky but not hard by any means.
