Newbie upgrade DV and Milltek exhaust set up?
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:13:45 pm »
Hi everyone,

First of all thanks for reading this.

Okay im not a car nut and i dont understand all the abbreviations used in the site lol but im keen to learn so please bare with me and if you can please keep it in plain english for me haha.

So after the last year i bought my dream car a MK5 Golf GTI, since then ive had Re mapped by R Tech and just the windows tinted. Unfortunatley when i went to VW they have just told me i needed four tyres, 4 brake pads and 4 brake discs. After doing my research online i have purchased the following:

4x Michelin Pilot SPort 3 tyres
Hawk HPS brake Pads
And brake discs i was advised from Brake engineering after never having heard of this company i did my research and nothing but good results were found.

Now as you can tell im not into track day or races ( YET! ) but i do enjoy the car and love to see how much i can push it and determined to beat my mate in his Vauxhall Astra VXR! lol.

So can anyone tell me how i can upgrade a little more?

Ive read quite alot of reviews with people saying 'most likely reason for the loss in boost was the DV that VW revised on the later models' is this something i should get checked out because i havent had a look from the first day i bought it. If so can anyone advise me on the best part and could you please provide me a link?

Next is Milltek exhaust how much am i looking to make a difference? i would like sound over performance to be honest for now, so is this link something i should be looking at:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOLF-MK5-GTI-EXHAUST-MILLTEK-2-0T-CAT-BACK-NON-RES-LOUDER-WITH-EC-TUV-SSXVW147/330540522663?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D8657406540761459617%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D330540522663%26

I really dont want to spend more than £500 because ive already spent about on everything listed and light bulbs, window wipers and windscreen replacement etc

Also has anyone got any past experience how much labour would cost to fit this?

Sorry guys if i sound like a tool but your help would be most appreciated and links to what you are talking about would be fantastic!
