Hub nut Touque setting?

Hi does anyone know the Front Hub nut Touque setting for a 2005 mk5 golf gti??

Monsterous iirc, something in the region of 175lb/ft

Front hub nut:     265Nm     195lbf ft :confused:

I recall something on this about it being a strech bolt.

When i took mine off i had a new bolt and threadlocker then put the bolt as tight as i could manage.

^ Yes I think it is, you should replace it... iirc there was a newer version that didn't require as much torqueing.

You need to tighten the nut with the wheel off the ground (get someone to stand on the brake pedal)

Otherwise you can damage the bearing

If you've got the newer 12 point axle bolt then it's 70nm/52ftlb + 90° turn when you lower the car onto its wheels.


According to Haynes:

I don't know what Haynes that info came from but if you use the search here and a quick google search you'll find that the older hexagonal axle bolt is 200nm/148ftlb + 180° turn.

I just had a look on autodata and that's saying 200nm + 180 degrees and make sure you use new nuts/bolts.
