FK Pink Wax = Blingtastic
« on: June 25, 2013, 11:02:44 am »
Morning Peeps,

Gave my car a maintenance wash and clean yesterday (5 hours in total but that was due to prepping the glass for some GTechniq goodies which arrived this morning)

I then applied 2 coats of FK Pink wax which were left to cure for 30 mins each time and with a 1hr interval between coats.

All i can say is I am impressed and if i am honest it seems to give a better depth of gloss to it than anything else i've had on it before (Swissvax Shield, Crystal Rock, Best of Show, Gtechniq C2v1, C1.5v1 etc)

It's getting another coat this evening when i get in from work and then i will see how it looks before i decide wether to apply the GTechniq C2v3 that i received this morning.

Some pics, sorry they are crap as i took them with the iPhone. Will do some with the proper camera once i have applied the sealant to the glass when i get home from work later today

Comments good, bad, indifferent welcome as always.

Carl  :happy2:

Good job carl, how did you find working with the wax was it dusty?

funny how you find it better over wax thats nearly more than 10 times the price  :signLOL:
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Swissvax is vastly overpriced imo, as there are products as good if to better then itself at a tenth of the price.

nice work there Carl  :happy2:

It's not dusty at all. It is exactly the same as the Swissvax shield i have in terms of how easy it is to use. It goes on and literally just wipes off. No matter how long you leave it for. Longest i have ever left it was overnight and it still came off no problem the next morning.

Regarding prices

Swissvax Crystal Rock - £795 for 200ml
Swissvax Best of Show - £195 for 200ml
Swissvax Shield - £130 for 200ml

FinishKare Pink Wax 2685 - £17.95 for 450ml (so more than double in the tin)

As with anything though it's the preparation that does the most.

Swissvax is vastly overpriced imo, as there are products as good if to better then itself at a tenth of the price.

nice work there Carl  :happy2:

Thanks

I agree to a certain extent (especially Crystal Rock as it does not last anywhere near 6 months on a daily driver!  :fighting:) However i think a lot of stuff in the detailing world can be vastly overpriced. But it's what people are prepared to pay. After all there is a fabled Zymol Solaris wax that costs £40,000  :surprised:

However no pro detailer anywhere knows of a car with that wax on it to see it's fabled quality! A lot of stuff is just hype IMHO.

Sound interesting, how come you left it on over night, I always wanted to do that to see how the finish would turn out.

It would defiantly get enough time to cure to the paintwork then  :rolleye:

Did you notice a difference with leaving it on?

I left it on overnight as wanted to see if it made a difference. To the naked eye it makes no difference compared to 30mins. It says on the tin 10mins and I've tried that in the past but find it gets a better wetter deeper lustre if left for 30-60 mins and leave at least an hour between coats.

It is a very good and under rated wax IMHO.

I also use pink wax over FK1000p in winter too which gives a nice finish and FK1000p is pretty robust as a sealant.

Yes mate.

FK1000p - Left overnight on the first coat to let it cure properly on the freshly polished paint, came off fairly easy but had to put a bit of elbow grease in - more so than if you leave it on for an hour which is what i usually do.

FK Pink - As mentioned earlier

Swissvax Shield - Again first coat left overnight to cure on top of glaze that had been applied. No difference in look or way it came off as to leaving it 30mins - again what i normal do.

Rest of the time i generally leave then on for around 30-60 mins unless the instructions dictate something specific.

Holy moly.

Tried this wax tonight. Wayyyyy too easy to apply and a winning, wet finish.

How have you found the duration so far Carl?

About 3-4 months dependant on severity of the British "summer" weather etc.
