Air con compressor part number
« on: June 28, 2013, 09:38:00 pm »
My air-conditioning pump has had it and I was quoted today for a reconditioned VW compressor £550. £360 for the recon compressor and labour and regassed totalling £550.

I soon left after I was quoted that, I could nearly get springs and remap for that price.

I want to know would it be okay to leave the pump on and not use it and will this cause any more harm, apparently the compressor has broken up inside?

It might be a possibility to buy one on eBay and get it fitted but no guarantee it'll work but would anyone know the part number for a 2008 GTI?

Thanks

Im going to be taking my AC compressor of the car over the next week.

Its in full working order atm. Could sell you mine.

You can drive the car with it not working, just turn the ac off.

I tried to get mine re-gassed the other day and all I heard was hissing, turns out I have a hole in the compressor.
Spoke to VW and they wanted £295 for my sooty. Euro car parts were £189 for a Hella version and £136 for an unbranded version, not sure how they get fitted tho!!
