Interior upgrades
« on: July 02, 2013, 09:57:38 pm »
Hi everyone.

Can you show me pictures of your interior upgrades you've done. Looking for any suggestions ranging from head units, switches, bulbs.

Pics and prices if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Everything can be changed out if you want, from the head unit, the dash surrounds, LED lighting, under seat lighting, even  lights that light up your interior door handles, door warning lights (all the LED's come in various colours and brightnesses)   under seat drawers, climate control rings, vent and/or dash or column gauges, chrome switches, seat handle inlays, ashtray cover, dead pedal etc etc etc.

Everything can came as an optional extra when the car was new can also be retrofitted, list is to big to reel off.

You can even upgrade your climate control to a Mk6 one and your steering wheel to a Mk6 one, you can add a rear view camera (via a Mk6 boot handle/camera) which will work with a RNS510 headunit.

Use the "Search" function and you'll come across everything your after, also look through the Cosmetic mod section and look through the "how to" section as if it can be fitted, someone's done it and posted about it.
It never ends.......

Easiest thing for you would be to let your fantasy free and think about if there's anything that could need a upgrade/replacement and then search on the internet if its possible. I haven't done much much to my car yet (6 months old) but im slowly getting started.

So far i have done:

- Full Bi-Xenon conversion (with dynamic and static cornering light)
- Change of LED's in the speedo: http://bil2.webgallerier.dk/galleri/fuldskaerm/540/2695478-vw-golf-plus-van
- Change of all bulbs in ceiling inside the car from halogen to white LED's
- Change of number plate lights from crappy halogen to LED
- Retrofit of RNS-510 and code this together with the speedo
- Dynamat of all doors (only inner plate) and trunk + engine hood. Highly recommended if you want a quiet car with better stereo
- Retrofit projector foglights with 5000K xenon (to match my Bi-Xenons)

My ToDo/Wishlist:

- Golf 6 MFSW retrofit (slipring, controller, c/c stalk and mfsw waiting for me at my home in Germany :driver:
- Install rear seats (i am re-registering this car from danish to german)
- Dynamat outer plate of doors + the WHOLE trunk and floor
- New stereo front + rear (8 speakers + amplifier)
- Retrofit Golf 6 Plus speedo. This is really hard as we have the lovely immobilizer
- Footwell lightning (not sure if LED or Halogen). Should be an easy retrofit
- Change LED's in dash/doors/climatronic from red to white (not sure yet)
- Swap climatronic for a newer one
- Install engine heater (220v, for very cold seasons - saves many km's of your diesel engine)
- Swap trunk light from halogen to LED
- Retrofit of door lightning

... and probably some other things.. It comes by time.. All my friends thinks im  :stupid:  but i always have fun with doing modifications, always good to have a friend by.  :drinking:

You can probably do a lot more than i (i have a PLUS model) so go to google and search for inspiration.  :fighting2:

Head unit would be the first thing I'd recommend, even if its just the RCD310, way better looks and better sound quality! Can be picked up for £50ish these days.. but you need to change a can gateway usually about £60-70 to get one however.

Only Change I've made so far is the MFD2 and CD changer removal, and installed a Pioneer instead.

List to do -
MFSW
LED lights
Metal Pedal's/Footrest
Possibly a new set of clocks

Need to get a full service though first before I start making it look nicer!

Its the Osir DSG surround:

But I bought it 2nd hand off this forum about 18months ago, so not sure if it's available in the UK.

How hard was the cruise control to fit? And reckon it was worth the time and money?
