Well it had the legs on me yes.

Can someone confirm... is the B5 diesel or petrol... what engine is it?

I thought it was diesel... turns out it might be petrol.... hence it sounded nice!

i was going to start a thread on Alpina so may as well tag my question onto this - what is the crack between the and BMW? Do they have the rights to buy the shell, drivetrain, engines etc and are then allowed to tinker with them as they see fit to produce an even sleeker/faster/more exclusive product??

Wikipedia (so it must be true  :signLOL: )

For the 2011 model year, the B7's twin-turbo 4.4-litre BMW V8 is assembled by hand at Alpina's facility in Buchloe, Germany, before being shipped to BMW for installation, and the assembled vehicle is then sent back to Alpina for finishing touches.

Not to be underestimated! I couldn't believe the top speed over the whole range of their cars!

Had the B3 twin turbo in my head for a second Rich that are also very quick.

The B5 is F10 M5 pace, I remember evo saying how there's not much in it between the two. Arguably sound better than the M5 too some would say...

Anything B from Alpina will be Petrol (B3, B5, B6 & B7) D will Be Diesel (Think there's only the 3 & 5 Series with Diesel Tuned engines at the Moment D3 & D5) Earlier Models used numbers that didn't correspond with the series that they were attached to (B10 was a 5 Series for Many Years)
