Swapping a BWA for BWJ 2.0 TFSI engine
« on: July 10, 2013, 07:57:02 pm »
Wanting to know whether it would be a straight forward to swap a BWA 2.0 Tfsi engine from a Golf GTI with a BWJ 2.0 Tfsi engine from a Cupra to put in my MK5 Golf Gti 2007 manual.

Would this be a straight forward swap?
Can a KO3 turbo be used or will it need a KO4?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

you can swap but no reasons to if your not going at least k04.
You need to swap the MAP sensor from the BWA and one more part on the HPF can't remember it's name.
But as written above absolutely no point in it

Over the top mod list ;o)

Yeh, even on a KO4 the 'upgrade' benefits won't be massive massive. Do have some slightly stronger internals but swings and roundabouts really. Swaps straight over though if you did want it with the above changes. Another 30,000 on mine and I might do the same just for a fresh engine!

I fitted the BWJ engine in my K03 GTI and the hurdle is the ECU (and clocks) you really need them to take full advantage og the engine and a K04. If going bigger than K04 it's an easier task as the software needs to be more specific to the turbo and can compensate for the GTI K03 ECU  :happy2:
