Pop bang please...?
« on: July 11, 2013, 09:56:46 am »
Morning guys,

I've recently gone stage 2 on my Ed 30 DSG and had a 3" de-cat down pipe fitted.

All tho it adds a bit more drama to proceedings I was hoping for more DSG pops bangs and farts

At present exhaust wise I just have the de-cat downpipe, if I add a none res cat-back will this give me what im after ???

Cheers  :happy2:

I'd say the combination of the de-cat plus the non-res cat back will definitely increase the likelihood of fireworks  :happy2: it can be difficult to achieve pops and bangs on the TFSI engine, in comparison to non-direct injection turbo petrol engines found in similar cars

R-Tech Nick has tried mapping them in on James car, trying every trick in the book (dumping fuel into the exhaust on overrun etc). these TFSI's just don't want to do it  :sad1:

I've had my stage 2 map a month now . Nick at r-tech done it made 360hp 356 torques while there I asked I'm if he'd be able to make it pop and bang he said its very difficult for these engines to do so. Even though I have a decat and non res exhaust.

As Karl said when its cold it will pop slightly but stops after about 2 mins :-/. If you drive it hard when it's fully warned up you'll get a couple of pops when changing gear nothing special :-/

A friend has a vxr with de-cat and straight through exhaust, now that's a car you need if you want pops and bangs.
