Got a TWINtake? Watch out for this!
« on: July 10, 2013, 10:15:31 pm »
Tonight I took advantage of the good weather and cleaned out my twintake filters, washed them and left them to dry in the sun. Going back under the bonnet, I noticed that the upper/front-facing filter housing has been rubbing against the engine coolant return hose

(ignore the silver duct tape, that was to try and stop the spring clip from wearing through the twintake silicon pipe)

Luckily it hadn't yet worn right through, but this has happened on mine after around 18 months of use.. you can imagine the inconvenience of this hose springing a leak!

Get it checked people  :jumping:

Seen many off them with holes in the metal and silicone pipes.   All from the clip on the water pipe rubbing.  Poor design in my eyes.

It is that... wearing through the metal pipe too?? VW spring clips must be made of some tough-ass steel..

The sort of problems that the TWINtake kit cause could have been quite easily picked up if it had been tested on a car for a decent length of time

The ITG cannister arrangement has similar issues with this pipework.

Get something around the pipe, been mentioned a few times on here.
