Wax & todays heat.
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:32:22 pm »
So this morning before work I gave the car a coat of SRP and Collinite 476s. The car wasn't in direct sunlight and the heat hadn't turned up yet. (6:00am)
I did the whole car and the wax was left to cure for 10/15 minutes thereafter.

Then at work I was showing a mate the new wing that Volkswagen replaced, in the car park. And I ran my finger across the panel and it felt rough, I then ran my finger over the rest of the body work (factory paint) and again it felt slightly rough.

It's almost as if the wax had melted in the heat (32 degrees) and the dusty particles from the car park had stuck to the car. Is this remotely possible or could it be something completely different? Never experienced this before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Could well be the wax/polish has a low melting point and abit of dust/pollen etc.

Depends on how thick you applied it. You may have had residue wax left over. Or as you said, could be just dust. Wash and dry the car and see what you can pick up. Might be worth a buff with some QD.

Some waxes need time to 'gas' and go off a little with another wipe down an hour+ later.

Might be a stupid question, but did you clay the car before waxing?

Thanks for all your input lads, much appreciated.  :happy2:

I didn't no, clayed it a month or 2 ago. I've got some BH Soft in the workshop which I'll be using on it again next time around.

You reckon? I haven't got a clue, but yeah its got to be worth a go. As above, got some new BH Soft last week.

Try using a sealant rather than a wax. A wax product will always be less forgiving in high temperature applications.

Was the car parked near trees?
If i leave my car out the back of my house next to the trees they leave a residue all over the car which smudges on the paint and glass. Its either leave it out the front of the house to get covered in bird poop or leave it out the back to get covered in tree juices  :sad1:

Wasn't under trees no Jack. Nothing worse than bird sh*t, luckily the birds round here prefer to offload on my Mum's Golf and not mine.
