Typical, the hottest period since, well, seems like forever and my Air Con compressor has given up the ghost  :sad1:

VW want £847 to supply and fit!

Does anyone know of any specialists in the South London/Kent area who could do it for a much less eye watering price?

Cheers

A fellow member posted this the other day and I thought their prices seemed very competitive.

I would give them a ring and see who they supply in your area  - got to be worth a try!

GSF car parts are about 300-350 depending on which compressor and how much discount you get.
Its 3 bolts to remove the compressor and undo the pipe unions, not a hard job.
Prob looking at about 100-150 quid labour including a vacuum and recharge..

Im removing and fitting my new one tomorrow, not a hard job.

Cheers PEte.

Dont bother saving 150 quid for a s/hand one, not worth it imho, im getting a new Denso one for 300 quid.
Will take a few pics , yes no probs

I have mine fitted for £550 at Vw Audi Tech in Chelmsford they had the car for half a day, the dealer wanted £1200, I begged an pleaded for a discount as a loyal customer but I was dragged out of the dealer ship and thrown violently onto the scorching pavement.

The nice fella at Vw Audi Tech said it is a problem on all mk5 golfs with climate control, so if it hasn't happened yet start saving up.

Give these guys a ring: http://www.vgsuk.com/

I (and several others here) can't recommend them highly enough.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

Compressor isnt hard to fit, did mine in about an hour or so, undertray off and 3 bolts to undo it, multiplug to remove, remove hose bracket bolt and then remove hoses from compressor (two bolts).
You can just about squeeze it out without having to undo the coolant hoses.
I got a rebuilt Denso compressor from GSF for 305 inc vat.
Today ive just replaced my Condensor as it was pretty knackered, thats a bit morer involved!!, mate's coming later this eve to recharge her so im going to revel in brand new ice cold a/c later, going to sit in the bugger for half hour to cool myself down!!!.
If i was closer i could have done it for you.

Cheers PEte.
