**picture request** lowered on springs
« on: July 17, 2013, 09:18:42 pm »
Before anybody tells me to search, i have already but cant find what im looking for.

I'm finding the ride in my golf very 'boat like' compared to my last car which was an astra vxr.

The golf handles much better than the astra but the suspension is very soft/loose compared to what I'm used to. (Partners car is a Mini Cooper s which is also very low and stiff)

After a bit of searching it seems h&r springs are the favourite. But I'm on a tight budget so these are too expensive for me.

I've used apex springs in the past on other cars and they were always pretty good. Has anybody used these on a golf?

Also interested to see pictures of cars with springs fitted. What springs and drop. Preferably on 18s.

Thanks.

See my sig, there is Koni FSD/H&R springs, AP springs/struts and Bilstein B12 kit with Eibach Sportline's on it.

You get what you pay for at the end of the day. You will find that Eibach and H&R springs are very well rated on the mk5.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

H&R or Eibach are it if your only going with springs. Personally I'd go with the H&R out of the 2. Cost about £190 so Not loads more than those Apex ones. Double that once you've had them fitted and a full 4 wheel alignment though.

I think out of the two it will have to be ebachs then. There the go to ones for vxrs and people rate them.

Fitting won't cost me anything, but will have to go somewhere for alignment.
