Please can anyone help me decide if by replacing my mk5 R32 engine with a edition 30 engine, will it be a better allrounder? As we know, the R32 are slow, but have the 4 wheel drive system, the edition 30 engine is much more disireable

Supercharger is very expensive at this time while the dollar is high.
I have a RS4 also but got quoted 30 - 40k for a supercharger.
Do you have any links?

I think that would be a blinding idea, probably alot more tunability for your money and alot lighter as well.

but why put a edition 30 engine in there when you could do an S3 which also has the cams?

Putting a chaarger on the R32, will be a more viable idea, both for cost and power.  And you keep that lovely noise, I still remember my MKIV and MKV!!!

RK engineering offered me the first UK supercharger from VR6 Specialist in holland, easy 600bhp+ on their MK5 left hookers and needed a UK RHD car to develop their kit

£6000ish would see you fitted and mapped and ready to play

ask for simon 01872 553839, based in the southwest and utter legends with all things VAG

also, as far as i know they were planning to offer a big discount for the first car too. nothing to do with the charger, thats all good, more the lhd to rhd logistics  :happy2:

You don't own a black r32 09 plate  do you?

Totally destroyed one on the a3 heading south out of London the other night, was v surprised how slow they are they compared to a tuned ed30,

You are talking bucks to supecharge or turbo one best of getting a s3 and going stage 2+ revo

much more cost effective

Lol, not me... They sound amazing but for power & speed they are pretty poor. I have to give them credit for being able to merely stop an set off again in gears up to 4th though.

How much have you been quoted on the ED30/S3 engine?

Supercharged R32 would show all ED30's up  :scared:

....Sorry but either this just isn't making sense or I'm being thick (though my excuse is that it's 2:00am):

The Mk5 R32 will have all sorts of transmission and other differences from the Ed30 which involve more than just an engine change. Or are you thinking of hooking an Ed30 engine to drive '4WD'?

I think that is his plan Robin, but there are undoubtedly going to be issues with the bell housings, ECU, all engine plumbing as well.

It would be easier to completely strip the entire engine/loom/ecu/clocks out and replace with the items from an S3. As then, you will at least have the necessary gearbox/transfer box that will mate up to the haldex 4wd system, but the clocks wouldnt fit most likely, so a genius would be required on that side of things to bypass the security with the standard R clocks.

Although, i have to admit, its a totally pointless excercise. It would be cheaper just buying an S3 and selling the R or even super/turbo charging the R.
