Flat bottom Wheel
« on: July 18, 2013, 08:09:03 pm »
Evening all, I'm still relatively new to this scene and I would love to retro fit a flat bottom steering wheel to my 05 TDI sport. Obviously needs to be as cheap as possible due to putting a GTI bumper on it (I know should have brought a GTI!) I don't have any experience or knowledge in this area so really need all your advice!
What exactly is required for this job?

1 flat bottom wheel!
2 my airbag?
3 best person to fit this?

Anything else???

Thanks in advance!
James

Look up a member called Eddie-NL

He fits a lot of steering wheels and I'm sure will keep you right on this matter!

You never know what he's fitted for someone -  they may be looking just to move an item on rather than gathering dust!

Always worth a PM.

Do you have a 3 or 4 spoke wheel? Do you want the buttons on the wheel too as thats harder for a manual car!

Buy the wheel your after and ask one of the many peeps on the forum to fit it for you (for a small charge). If you've not got Cruise Control, good time to fit it.

The fitting is easy. Take the battery off, turn the wheel a quarter to the left or right and there is a tab. Get a screw driver in there and the airbag pings off one side. Turn the opposite way and do same again. Unplug the airbag and then its just a spline bolt
