« on: July 24, 2013, 10:43:14 pm »
Parked under a tree and its all over the roof, door and window!  :sad1:

What's the best/easiest way to get it off?

I had this before. I left it as I tried to get a bit off and couldn't. It strangely 'evaporated' after a week or two.

Was very odd. There must be a removal method though.

Best way I found was hot water and a microfibre. Soak one cloth wring it out and place over the sap for a few seconds then wipe off with another cloth. I did the whole of the roof bonnet and wings on my car doing that and never inflicted any swirls or scratches.

Another way would be Clay but that will remove some or all of the protection (depending on the Clay and what protection you have on it)

I wouldn't use WD40! That would be a right pain to remove from the car and you would end up stripping off any protection trying to remove it.

Hot water as Carl says or if you can harvest it in a water butt, rainwater.

When we moved house, we had a lime tree at the end of the drive.  Damn thing kept covering my car in sap - it felt like sandpaper.

I found a product that prevented the sap from settling on the car...

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

The above products will work. However using the hot cloth method, if you're careful, you generally won't need to re-polish or wax.  :happy2:
