Serial Port stopped working, any ideas?
« on: July 27, 2013, 10:01:24 am »
As above really, my serial port has suddenly stopped working. I've had a look and all the wires on the back seem to be attached correctly.

Does anyone have any ideas??!?!?!?!?!?

Can I take it that your vcds can't connect?

I would try the cable using options>port and protocol option>test the usb port and see what results you get. Could be a bad cable or usb port.
Additionally you could try the vcds cable on another car to rule out a failed cable.

Just had a thought, try rebooting your laptop and retry the cable. I recall something similar happening in the past when going out logging and an operating system reboot cured it.

You sound very relaxed!
Is your cable going to be replaced under warranty?

Sorry, should've stated that it was a friends cable and not mine (not that this makes it ok of course!) :happy2:

He's left the VAG scene now so doesn't use the cable anymore.
