RCD 510 for DAB
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:00:39 pm »
Hi there I am looking to change my rcd 300 for something like the RCD 510 from E bay, I am looking to get DAB into the car.  Is there anything other than the head unit that I need.  It's going into a 06 gti. Any help or suggestions please??

Cheers Dean

DAB aerial and an upgraded canbus gateway to prevent battery drain.

iirc Eddie-NL on here sells the uncoded latest versions ones for around £70 and coded ones for your car for about £10 more.
If you don't have access to a vcds cable then get the coded one.

The actual head unit install is easy enough for a novice DIYer if you take your time. The canbus swap could be a little tricky as it's located behind the dash and you have to approach it from the drivers footwell.

yes I could do the head unit, it's the rest of the stuff.  I would also like to upgrade the speakers and fit a sub and amp.
