GTI driver etiquette - newby seeking advice!

Previous car was a WRX and the general rule was give a courtesy wave to anyone else in a Scooby (even the hatches...  :laugh: ) and was just wondering whether you GTI people did the same?!?
I've gave a wave to a couple of mk6's on my way to work this morning but didn't get anything back other than a dodgy look!

What's the rules?!? Should I only be waving at mk5's or not waving at all?!
Help me out please, I want to fit in! :grin:

A royal wave to fellow gti drivers only. Most don't reciprocate these days though.   :sad1:

Used to do it all the time in SAABs, most later model GTI owners aren't enthusiasts sadly.

Did the same thing in my impreza. Sometimes wave to fellow dubs and other modded Leon owners but most give dirty looks. In this sence I prefer the jap scene for friendliness.

waves when in the Honda VTEC gang, glares from most mk5 GTI owners, there doesn't seem to be the same sense of community, just too many on the road to be exclusive.

I always give fellow Golf's the thumbs up and a lot of the time its well received especially within the more DUB enthusiasts, I had the strangest man pull along side me the other day he was grinning so much he looked as if he'd dribble.. He was nodding his head profusely encouraging me to rev the car up lol needless to say I didn't stick around for dinner.

Seems a shame too but as already stated, there's just so many around that people just think your a crazy person waving at everyone! :laugh:

I tend to only get a nod or wave from other GTI's that are modified, in traffic had a few chats but driving along its usually too quick to judge the driver of a standard looking GTI as to if I'd get a wave back  :signLOL:

I used to drive an S3 and saw one on the way to my new contract,I waved  :happy2:

For the next three months I waved at an unknown EVERYDAY on the way to work  :surprised:
