Radio AUX?

Anyone know what the AUX button means in my radio, what does it do etc? 
Is their an iPod adapter or something I can use to play/use through it?

It selects the auxiliary phono jack input - usually mounted on the front of the armrest next to the handbrake. Sometimes inside the arm rest.

Thanks haven't got that button on the front of my armrest so guessing just built into the radio for those that did?
