Exhaust Sound
« on: June 18, 2013, 01:24:48 pm »
Hi guys,

Attached is a video of my car, i have had a new Turbo (KO3), Helix Clutch and Fly wheel, Rtech Custom Stage 1 map, Neuspeed P-flow intake and new part to the exhaust.

When Statler fitted the turbo they found that the exhaust had had it and it needed replacing. All the above alteration to the car have been done this year (expensive  :sad1:) except the map that was done in Nov 2012.

I did not have the cash to get a new exhaust and statller fitted an exhaust that they had collecting dust, emissions are well within MOT regulations and the sound is spot on. I believe that the exhaust that is currently fitted was from a newer car as there was some tweaking to get it to fit.

does this sound like a fully standard exhaust? has it got a sports CAT?  i cant find any videos on Youtube to help.

whats your guys thoughts? please see video below.

Have you looked under the car?.... dead easy to tell if its the OEM exhaust or not.

Yes... mine too and mine is standard. Mike TFSI asked me what exhaust it was when i met up with him a while back. I think its because we dont hear our cars from the side of the road that often. Theres so much sound insulation on the mk5 that it makes the exhaust very quiet as a passenger.

The downpipe on the S3 is the same as on a GTI so it is std downpipe. The GTi does have a nice exhaust note as std. Did he say if he removed the pre cat from the downpipe?

I havent asked him about the pre cat but I am guessing this is what has been done.

I know a few owners have gutted the cat and downpipe on their car, would be easy to see if you have the downpipe off!
