Cleaning an air filter?
« on: August 01, 2013, 04:12:18 pm »
I'm just about to dismantle my itg maxogen induction kit to give my engine bay a clean but I wasn't sure what you can and can't use on the foam filter?

Could anyone help me? Thanks

Most companies seem to recommend their own cleaners - which seem to be APCs.
I've used washing up liquid on various cars and machines (foam filters) in the past. Works fine.
Reoiling again tends to be a small amount of engine oil carefully squeezed out. K and N filter oil also works fine.
There is a theory that too much oil on a filter can damage MAFs so be careful.
