Intercooler...
« on: August 03, 2013, 01:16:43 am »
Right ... First things first I wanna say sorry for posting this as I am sure it has been Said many many times before ..: but I have searched ... And spent hours and hours on the Internet looking for figures..

I am about to take my k1 stage 2+ APR .. Thinking of upgrading intercooler .. First was litrally gonna buy the s3.. The. The THS came into play...

Car will be running 360-370bhp ...

I need to make my decision on what cooler to buy .. S3 or THS .. Please help me .. Provide your answer and your reasons.. I'm not a heavy heavy driving it I like to give it a boot when something come next to me .. Would say I'm 50:50 really .. Not always in red line ..

Please help.. I wanna just buy the one I need and be done with it :)

Few questions.:

Would the THS have lag?
S3 able to hack the BHP?
THS for bigger turbos?
Is it worth the £350 extra for THS? Does it have £350 more cooling ?
Any cutting needed of bumper?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO????? Lol
Sig pic to big

s3 intercooler is good for 500bhp

but the THS is the superior intercooler....

so you dont need the THS but if you want the ultimate go for it.

i got the s3 then added a twintercooler which is a formidable set up.... but not sure if the THS on its own is probably cheaper and just as good

This is what I would prob do:

If KO3 then S3.
If KO4 then THS, or THS + S3.

I had the THS IC fitted on mine and didn't experience any noticeable lag.

Twintercooler on factory k04 eddy no need to s3 as your aiding the oe with a secondary cooling system, this flows well over 450bhp, that's what I use.

I  use the eurojet one,as does hurdy, fantastic quality and build, comes with excellent fittings and silicone hoses, unlike the forge, piece o p`ss to fit aswell, unlike the forge..

I went from an s3 ic to the eurojet one and found no extra lag at all.

Regarding price give rainworth skoda a ring they are a eurojet dealer and have plenty off stock also when i asked about discount they knocked me off 60 squid,so paid 520 instead of 580.

big :happy2: to rainworth skoda....

stage 2+ Grey Ed30..DSG 362 BHP.380 lb/ft.....Also Statller Tuned :)

Do NOT go S3 if you're gonna be running that kinda power... Power is made by best flowing parts... The S3 simply doesn't flow aswell as the THS... Noticed a marked difference swapping between the two... THS or APR All the way buddy.

Just seen the new Forge race Intercooler. Very nice piece of kit and lighter than the THS version too. Well made and should be efficient.
