200cell sports cat
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:05:51 pm »
I can get hold of a 200cell sports cat quite cheap and was thinking about chopping out the original cat and fitting this to the standard dp, i known i wont get the full benefit of the larger bore dp but surely it will help the flow and save me a a fair bit of money in the process... anybody dont anything lilke this or got any thoughts on it?

Cheers  :happy2:

The original cat has something like 500+ cell and so is quite restrictive. Is the cat off another Golf or another car model?

Just looked at it. I'd steer clear personally. The cat on the MKV is encased in a flexi steel wrap to allow the zorst some movement independant of the engine and this would make it a rigid system which I don't think would be an option.

its not in the flexi part of the DP. the std exhaust has two cats on it. one right next to the turbo, and one below the flexi pipe and probably going to be more hassle than its worth changing the bottom cat

I don't think it would fit as it looks too long and the sensore would have to be re-housed too. Too much hassle for not enough gain. :happy2:

I had it on for a while but have taken it off, it seemed ok but as you said it just didn't feel right cant explain why.... Its probably trying to kick out to much for the standard dp and cat to cope with so then tries to back off and goes tits up... i dunno  :rolleye:
