RNS 510 update resolves battery drain issues?

I have recently come across this head unit on eBay. The seller claims it has the latest 2013 VW software version 5230 which resolves the battery drain issue on earlier cars without the need for an updated CAN-BUS gateway.

Does anyone have anymore knowledge or information on this? I've tried to search online but to no avail. I'm mainly interested to see if the update could be done to a RCD 510 unit without the need for the gateway module?
