Non running GTi - UPDATE...
« on: August 06, 2013, 06:17:32 pm »
Right, i managed to find a second hand ecu on ebay with exactly the same part numbers. I plugged it in when it arrived today but seem to be having the same problems as before - dsg lights flashing, esp and tyre pressure lights on(amber) and car turns over but wont fire. Scan with vag com and get 01314 engine controle module communications error and 18258 powertrain databus P1850 - 000 - Missing Message from ECU.

Now im thinking its not my ecu at fault, could it be the can itself? Im not that clued up with this system so scratching my head now  :scared:

Could it even be the battery?

Help please....................

Ah, too far to recommend a good auto electrician.

Id find a auto electrician and get him to trace the issue as it seems like a possible wiring problem.

Another update. After having a good investigation myself as said auto electrician still hasnt turned up after ive taken the day off work it would appear that a relay next to the battery with 167 on the case isnt getting power to it? Looking at a couple of wiring diagrams i have found online this could possibly be engine control module supply relay? Any idea where it gets it +12v from???
