I managed to get half a day on the golf today and made some satisfying progress.

Here it is.

Brought an s3 oil return pipe but due to the size of the turbo it did this

So I had a new flexi silver soldered and cut it to size today. Here it is fitted.

Put a driveshaft in to make sure of clearance too.

I'll send the pipe back to be crimped and hopefully I'll fit it properly next week.

My next job was to fit the heat shield in the tunnel along with the prop shaft

I managed to bag myself an evoms intake that consisted of just a cone and pipe for £10 so I decided to mock up a sort of custom intake

I'll have some more pics tomorrow too.

I had a few hours on the car yesterday and managed to get my rear s3 brakes on and prop centre bearing brackets welded in

Old tatty gti brakes

S3 rears

Not sure if and one is aware of this but the gti caliper is exactly the same as the s3, so to make a set of s3's you only need the carriers and discs

Centre bearing brackets welded.

Heat shield isn't the prettiest but I will replace it with a proper s3 one.

After 4 hrs work it doesn't look any different but it's getting there. Another few hours and I'll be ready.

The car is fully built and all I require is some wiring for the Haldex if I want to keep it oe or a powertrack insert for a quick easy fix. I'll be putting the fluids in at the end of January and hopefully it'll run sweet so then I can send it for a custom exhaust at the end of February.

Got a few pics to share but I'll get more on Thursday

Engine bay complete

Looks great! Did you modify the bumper to match up with the wings?

Looking forward to the outcome, and the fact that you are taking your time making sure everything is right so that no problems from rushing it! Really is going to be mean

Thanks. I've got too much time and money to put it up in smoke

I'd like to be aiming for a good 470-550 with the right fuelling. Can't remember what the turbo is rated too but as long as it's a capable car I'll be happy. Don't really want to chase figures just want a strong reliable car

No there's is no modification to the bumper at all. It slides on like a normal one.

Coming together nicely. Love builds like this and the end result should be great.

Are you planning on a trackday shakedown at some point?
