Auto tech HPFP failure?
« on: August 10, 2013, 05:36:45 pm »
So to give you a little background of the car

54plate GTi stage 2+ super chip remap
Milltek full system
Forge dv, twintercooler, twintake & catch can
Auto tech internal upgraded HPFP
Loba Motorsport oil pump

It's been 2 months now, and sat for 4 weeks at Voodoo Motorsport with a sump full of fuel.
Low pressure oil sign on dash board on and off, mainly when hard accelerating
And constant exhaust popping with fuel constantly in catch can.

Voodoo say the engine compressed fine

Does it sound like the HPFP has failed? As I can't wait any longer for them to check it, as struggling to get to work

Sounds to me like the internal seal in your hpfp has failed and leaking fuel that mixes with your oil.
Without traction power is nothing!

I wouldn't drive the car as it without a full oil change.
In your case, if you can get hold of a stock hpfp then install that and reflash your map to stock. You can then investigate your uprated hpfp whilst still having use of the car.

My issue is it's sat at a garage being 'worked on' taken 4 weeks and no update... So I can't really get the car home.

I've messaged Simon at Loba Motorsport to see about his HPFP and see if he has any ideas how to check the standard pump

same has just happened to mine, its the seal in the hpfp gone, flagging up a fuel system pressure fault as well, anyone selling their old hpfp?!?

edd666999 I will be taking it soon to a real company with RR. hopefully get 320bhp with all my mods,

lee_plum seems to be common, I just think it was the company that installed it didn't replace the seal, got a new Loba one :)

Cheers pal. I can't really complain. I put auto tech internals on a pump with 120k on it. Just bought and OEM one for £166 (30% discount :)) and will swap the internals over (very very very carefully)

Just a heads up but you'll get nowhere near 320bhp with a k03 turbo.

Edd666999 & BACILLUS, looks like I best go KO4 then, from LOBA aswell, need to ensure my stage 2 clutch will hold out.

All this turnt out to be was a failing seal, brought a new HPFP from Loba and will be putting the complete old pump up for sales when I can.
