Replacing glovebox front
« on: August 11, 2013, 10:42:20 am »
My glove box plastic is looking quite tired and is marked by the previous owner in a few places. Pic below, although it looks worse in real life -

Has anyone swapped the cover bit before? Anyone know the part number

Thanks

You could just replace the whole glovebox? They're pretty easy to remove and not expensive off ebay, the fourth one down that i saw http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-golf-mk5-glovebox-glove-box-breaking-tdi-tsi-/111137315965?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item19e04cdc7d

only £30 says its in good condition, youlle more than likely get something back from yours also.

Thanks, haven't thought of that. Would need some decent pics to make sure it is better than mine but will keep an eye out  :driver:

It's easy to change the front lid, you can get them for much cheaper than £30 on ebay too

I don't sorry, I sold a glovebox for a few pounds on here but have deleted the pics with it.

I replaced my glovebox for a used one bought off ebay which was pretty much brand new. It too longer to unwrap the damn thing than to fit it!

Was that the whole unit? Is it just a few of the usual torx screws holding it in place?

That was the whole glovebox. This should help - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,15294.0.html

To remove Screw 3 you need to remove the plastic trim above the ashtray, beneath the heater controls :)
