Which machine polisher?!
« on: August 14, 2013, 04:47:39 pm »
It's my birthday soon and my other half hinted that I could do with a machine polisher as I always seem to be polishing my car and asked if I've been looking at any.

So I don't want anything to expensive and I'm not a detailer I just like to keep my pearl black gti nice and shiny, can anyone please recommend one possibly with pads included I also use auto glem super resin polish.

Thanks

^^^^ Your a LEG END bud, guess what I've been looking at getting! Seems rude not to for less than £100 and all the brownie points that cleancyourcar give you.

Good luck with the polisher MC. I'm thinking of getting one too. Only thing is I envision myself burning huge skidmarks right through to the base coat :scared: and having to buy a new car. In fact I'd probably take the flesh off my fingers and forearms and also electrocute myself.

^^^^ I've had a good practice on a friends DA (on his car) and picked up some pointers as to speed, pressure, movement and all that stuff. Need to do some research in pads and polishes.

Anyway, how hard can it be and how badly wrong could it go??  :signLOL:

Works out that you get £15 off. So its £99.95 with free shipping thrown in. I've used Cleanyourcar many times, great peeps and always wrap their stuff like its the Crown Jewels.

Yes,  you'll need pads. I'm not sure which ones to get, but am looking at the Chemical Guy pads, orange cutting pads, white polishing pads and black finishing pads. Have a look on Chemical Guys website for those, slightly cheaper.

I use a das-6 pro ...I used the sonex range of pads first and these are fine ..but I've just swapped over to flexi pads hex pads using orange for swirl and defect removal and green for polishing ...I've also changed from menzerna compound/polish which is good with vag clearcoat and now use megs 105/205 and my god it does shine better so sticking with megs for now ...one thing to note I've now damaged my orange pad twice now ...due to running past door edges and wheel arches so try and keep it just on pannel lol

Just to add my two pence -

I have had the DAS-6 (not the pro version) for about 18 months now. Really impressed, do your research on how to use it (although really you can't go far wrong once you know the basics).

I bought it with a selection of pads and polish to get me started. The polishes last forever ... I still have both of the originals. The pads last a fair while too.

This was the bundle I got - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-dual-action-polisher/das-6-dual-action-polisher-menzerna-intro-kit/prod_721.html

The DAS-6 PRO is dead cheap with that discount code you have! I would recommend getting one with some pads and polish just so you can work out what you like and try out different combinations and it can work out fairly cheap rather than buying separately. Get a good halogen work light to get a decent look at your paint too :) they're quite cheap from B&Q etc.

ENJOY!!!

I personally like the Menzerna polishes with the CG hex-logic pads.
I also have MF cutting pads with the megs MF correction fluid which is great on tough VAG paintwork.

Plenty of video guides on Youtube that's how I taught myself. It's not really hard if you are a patient person :)
