Front Wipers

Hello all,

When I push down on the stalk, I don't get the one time wipe.  Also, I have the rain sensor on the windscreen, but when I put the wiper up one notch to the auto wipe mode, it seems to just operate in the manual way. As in intermittent wiping with no rain falling on the screen. 

I did check all this with the ignition off, so don't know if this makes any difference.  I had the rain sensor wiping function on my old MK4 Gti and it was about one of the only things not listed as a common fault, needing changing!

Do you have the four position switch on the top surface of the wiper function arm?

If you're referring to the horizontal speed setting switch, then yes.  However these are on the auto wiper stalks also, as detailed in the manual.
