RCD510 DAB Settings
« on: August 16, 2013, 07:40:25 pm »
Installed one of these units in my 2010 Octavia to replace the Bolero unit. All good except for one minor niggle, I like the radio text option on the DAB and prefer this to the station list. Every time I turn on the unit it has defaulted back to the radio list and I have to choose the radio text option, is there a setting I need to change to make the unit default to radio text? Do I need VCDS to make this happen?

Thanks

Brian

I just tick the box in the extras screen when radio selected IIRC. - never give any problem for me.

Thanks for the reply, do you mean you have to choose radio text every time you switch unit on? Where is the extras screen? I'm trying to make the unit always show radio text when I switch it on

I have the same headunit and I don't think you can do that as it covers the preset stations so it only stays up until you touch the screen again
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

Tried what you suggested, stopped car for a few minutes and when I restarted the car the radio text was still on. All good I thought but next time I stopped car and restarted the radio text had disappeared and it had returned to station list setting. Can you suggest anything else I could try? I'm not that bothered if it can't be sorted, just a bit frustrating

Thanks.

I dont know how these things work, but could it be possible you have the live and switched ignition wires round the wrong way? I had this on an older car radio so it wouldnt store preferences till I switched the wires round. Just an idea.
