Ko4 conversions- advice needed
« on: August 15, 2013, 05:37:22 pm »
Hi folks, just wanted to know for those who have had this done how much did it cost and where did you have it done? Is there any other mods that need to be done for this to happen?

Have you noticed and reliability issues once this has been done? Thanks for any input.

What state of tune are you now?  Are you looking at just sticking the K04 turbo on with a bespoke remap (approx 280-300Hp) or are you looking at going the full hog with an uprated fuel pump, intake, exhaust/intercooler etc?

Hi thanks for the reply, I currently only have a stage 1 map, am looking to get a twintake and downpipe at some point this year when finances allow.

Would any other mods need to be done for the ko4?

It depends on how far you wish to go as to what needs replacing. If you are going k04 and a stage 1 map then nothing apart from the turbo, dv relocation would need changing. However if you want more power you will need a hpfp internal upgrade, an intake, poss intercooler, injectors, full tbe exhaust, larger brakes and uprated suspension. Id do the brakes and suspension mods first though. Although id perhaps stick with a stage 1 map k04 as that will get you around 300bhp which is more than enough for a fwd car and wont cost the earth to do. Id stick with the oe intake as the aftermarket intakes do give good bhp high in the rev range but you do lose low end torque, which means having to rev the engine harder round town to get going. I switched back to the oe intake and found my car drove much nicer with every day driving.

Hi Homer,iv had my k04 conversion for abt 6 months now i was lucky enough to find the full kit on ebay,ie turbo s3 injectors(new)and new s3 dv too all for £800 a steal.im at stage three the now and have had some gremlins along the way ie boost leek and remapping issues but all worth it in the end.im running forge twintercooler with itg maxton and autoteck hpfp as you will defo need to upgrade the full pump internals, twintercooler not an absalute must as you would probly get buy on the s3 cooler, not a hundred percent sure of bhp figures  as i havnt had it on the rollers since all the conversion was done, but my tuner and myself recon it must be between 300bhp to 350 bhp just never have the time to get it on the rollers, but as i have mentioned before its how the car drives on the road that really matters and mine is like light the torch paper and hold on lmao...anyway i hope iv helped you in some way thanks and enjoy the awesome k04 conversion
