iPhone 5 charging issues
« on: August 19, 2013, 02:19:04 am »
Anyone else had issues with there lightening cable going in fine, then the charging being fine for a second then stopping charging and starting again at its own leisure, at some points I'm having to sit with the phone and very carefully pressing the home button so as to not disturb the position of the phone to check that it's charging, or move it so it is charging again, it's on a three contract that I started in December, could be a trip to the Genius Bar in Sheffield ??

Do you have lint in the lightning port? Mine was full of fluff. Give it a blast with air duster, or get a pin in there to clear tr fluff out.

I had a similar problem.  It turned out to be the cable - one of the wires must have broken inside.

I have the same problem at the moment with both the cables I have- pretty livid as I can't get to an Apple store until I'm next in the UK in October.
Let me know what the outcome of your genius bar trip is!

This must be a very common problem. My misses is on her fourth charging cable and taking the fourth back today as its doing the same again, They are just really crap quality. Why they changed the design?????. I'm due upgrade but I'm sticking with the 4s until they bring out 5s

I was hoping they changed the design to include USB 3.0 but its not in their specs...

The cables have now been copied throughly on the net and can be picked up cheaply, I'd wager they are exactly the same.  I'd stay clear of copied chargers/3 pins though, one blew up when I used it and took out an iPod touch.

Do NOT buy the eBay copy ones there dangerous. Tried one and it came apart. For sake of £15 I rather buy a new one and take it up with apple keeping all receipts

The Cables aren't dangerous the voltage has already been reduced... The sockets on the other hand...boom. :signLOL:

EDIT: Just wanted to add my BOOM pic, lol:
