Hello newbie from Edinburgh
« on: August 19, 2013, 02:09:04 pm »
Hello all.  I've only just bought a 2007 Gt Tdi 140. My Previous car was a BMW 330 msport convertible. I just found it too costly to run and when I bought it I was toying with the idea of getting a golf. After nearly a year of ownership and with my good lady driving around in a brand new company car Golf tdi bluemotion i finally gave in once she agreed to let me drive it. So here I am, my first golf I have to say & i'm really enjoying it so far but as always the Mod's aint that far away. So plans for it....well i already had a few ideas in mind

Gti rear valance  (colour coded)

Gti sideskirts

Gti front spoiler/splitter

Spacers for my wheels  (std alloys)

That's what I plan on doing first. Any links/pages to the parts I need to get me started would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Ant.  :happy2:

Picture of my car. Taken from IPhone so not the best.

The car is going into paint shop tomorrow. There's a few parking dents on either side, the back bumper is being painted & a full machine polish.

Not sure what the alloys are but I think they're standard.

Cheers,  Not planning on going mad with it, few subtle changes on outside.  I might consider a remap at some point. Would need to do a bit reading up on it though before I make any decisions

Picking up gti  rear bumper & sideskirts tomorrow. Brand new in box, cost me £100 thought that was not a bad deal.  Now need to get a front splitter.

Welcome Ant, from a fellow Edinburgh member. I just picked up a 170 GT TDi after being out of Golf's for 6 months.

My last car was a 2004 GT TDi 140 with plenty mods done to it (I had a full GTI/Votex bodykit, Milltek exhaust, mapped to 180+ bhp and a few toys on the inside).

I've been on a shopping spree over the weekend so now have VCDS (subject to the postman arriving soon) and a stockpile of mods to fit.

Let me know if you ever want to meet up, I've had a VCDS before so any code reading, programming you want done gimme a shout!  :happy2:

What's your thoughts on mapping a 140?  Can all the stardard parts cope with the extra ponys?  Ie turbo, injectors

Aye cheers, that would be good. Interested in seeing how much different the 170 version is.
