Worth keeping up full VW history or not bother.

Hopefully picking up our ED 30 soon car has covered 41k 6 service stamps in book

First 2 are from Hartel Volkswagen Osenbruck next 4 are from Volkswagen Leicester

Is it worth keeping the car with VW or if I go to a specialist will that dent the future resale ?


Any opinions ?

If you plan to sell back into the VW dealerships, then they can be a bit sniffy about non-dealer stamps.

For anyone else, (especially those who know what dealers can be like), a good VW specialist is actually better.  Don't skip services, though.

Are you buying from VW Leicester? If so is it a red 57 reg one? Because I bought my Mk5 there a couple of weeks ago and there was a very nice ED30 there!

Unfortunately not, it's coming from a land rover main dealer.

Main dealer can help with any goodwill when making claims, ie DSG box, corrosion on sills, arches etc...

I always do my own maintenance ...but ive just had warranty claim on body and vw only met 75% as dealer said I had no loyalty with them

i always do my own maintenance

keep a proper log off all parts changed, when serviced etc

did this with my last car and i dont believe i sold it for any less than i would have if it had been serviced by VW

Personally when buying I would prefer to see a set of stamps from a reputable VW specialist than a dealer, because I actually think they tend to take more care for the cars than a dealer would.

Had no problems trading my Audi cab back to Audi despite it having a full set of stamps from PSI Tuning - although the fact that it had been serviced twice as often as Audi would on their longlife plan may have helped!

My service book is full of personal notes detailing what I've done, when and at what mileage. Will I get stiffed if I try to sell to get an R32? I'm not sure, but I very much doubt it.
