Tornado red is the ONLY colour for any GTI imho (apart from Pirellis, which look good in Black).

Steel Grey is a fantastic colour and looks very good on GTIs, but Tornado Red is still the best.

For me it has to be DPB or candy white...but as already mentioned colour is a personal choice.

Sorry Sub, but Laser blue c**ps on every colour in my opinion, just can't understand why VW dumped it. Nothing electric blue in the Mk7 either, when BMW and Mercedes are doing wonderful similar hues.

it's a nice colour, don't get me wrong. i just feel that that sort of electric blue belongs to the .:Rs. (in fact in the same way i believe that TR is the only colour for a GTI i believe that blue is the only colour for an R lol.)

it's all down to personal preference at the end of the day. i think white is a terrible colour on any car (except for that sort of cappuccino satin white colour on the Fiat 500), but people have gone mad for it lately. thankfully the trend does seem to be dying down somewhat.

A vote for steel grey here. A biased viewpoint of course...

Still, I do really like the white & red, but on other people's cars! White looks great, but would never be clean for long - Red is fantastic, but just shouts out a bit much for me. For some reason, in the ED30 I seem to see enough gittish driving around me without a bright red car to bait them up even more!

Candy white was the colour i really wanted when i was looking for an ED30 and my second choice was tornado red, which is what i bought.

To get a candy white ED30 or even a normal GTi you have to pay a premium for the colour and the examples that were around in white when i bought mine definately weren't worth paying the extra for just because of the colour.

Your going to have to live with the car though so choose the colour you like the best, be a bit of a waste of money if you bought a car in a colour just because the majority said it was the best.

Thank you all for your input. I've never been a fan of grey cars, I've never had a red car, so I'm going to go either red or, as a nod to my old Mk2 16V and Mk4 GTi 1.8T, black.

Basically it will be whichever comes up first in right spec condition, manual 3dr with sunroof!

I say Steel grey, and I have diamond black.

Black cars always look the best WHEN they are clean ie for about 20 minutes they are a real Pita to keep clean, grey on the other hand
